Start the mission, before Mason photographs it, start tracking the horse, skip the cutscene get on your horse fast and then try to locate the horse while maintaining the high speed as it is scripted to run away and despawn. You have to get close and perform a jump from your horse since the animal can't be targetted with a lasso.
It's more reliable than spawning the horse from random event reloading.
You can get Silver Dapple Pinto Missouri Fox Trotter from 3rd mission for Albert Mason. Can find them at any point in the story between Emerald Ranch and the stables just south of it. But a good saddle and tack will make most horses really good anyway, so I'd advise to just choose what you like until the Multi class breeds unlock (chapter 4 I think)Įdit* - You can also get mustangs in the wild, which are very good. There are versions of these horses available early, but they are the common coat variants with significantly lowered stats. If you are early in the game you won't be able to get anything better until you advance enough in the game to unlock the Turkoman and Missouri Fox Trotter breeds. Just camp near by - but out of sight - and it will appear eventually. There are often predators there which will cause the horse not to spawn.
